| Totally original in every respect is this gem of a vintage Fender Precision Bass. This 1964 L-series P-bass has been lovingly cared for by just two owners, and it is in astounding condition. The first owner owned it (in the USA) from 1964 until his death in 2002. The family retained the bass until the second owner (in Australia) purchased it from a USA broker in early 2006. The back of the bass shows some buckle rash (which displays the correct white-silver-red paint layering for the period, before Fender changed to a gold base coat soon afterwards), but is in extremely good condition. The original nickel-plated hardware is still very clean and untarnished, the original bridge cover still has the mute intact, the incredibly clean 'green' guard shows almost no play wear and has its correct aluminium shield underneath. In short, amazing. Very rarely do instruments of this calibre become available. Then there's the original black Tolex case, all correct for 1964 with its leather ends and no logo. In the pocket are the original 2 keys, bright as the day they were made, and the original leather strap. The custom Candy Apple Red finish still has a beautiful deep lustre, just as the day it left Leo Fender's factory to its original USA owner back in '64, and looks fantastic with the Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with the clay dots (Fender was to switch to pearloid dots by late '64). Weight of the bass is bang on 4kg (8.8 pounds). Here's your chance to get a real investment piece, and a playing instrument that is impossible to beat. The real deal, made when Leo Fender was still at the helm. And original right down to the last screw.
